Another Israeli Baller in NBA?
Well, now Casspi might not be the only Israeli in the league. The NBA could be opening the door for Eliyahu!
Maccabi Tel Aviv forward Lior Eliyahu could be coming to the Minnesota Timberwolves and joining his mate. Eliyahu was selected 44th overall by the Orlando Magic in 2006, but got traded to the Houston Rockets. In Israel, Eliyahu, averaged 11.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this season for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
While Lior Eliyahu has three years left in his contract with Maccabi, he might just have his NBA buyout clause invoked which would cost him half million dollars. His NBA salary will certainly be enough to cover that fee.
I’d be surprised if we didn’t see Eliyahu in a Timberwolves jersey this fall. It will then be up to the guys over at ESPN to come up with a signature slam dunk line for Eliyahu like Omri Casspi’s breakaway “Sheket Bevakasha” dunk (video below).
